TransAfrica Forum envisions a world where Africans and people of African descent are equal participants in a just international system. To this end we promote partnership with Afro-descendants in Latin America and support their efforts toward equity, democracy, sustainable economic and environmental development, and their inclusion in national, regional, and global affairs.
In addition to its country-specific work, TransAfrica Forum’s Latin American and the Caribbean Program often works at a regional level to increase awareness of the impact of U.S. policy on Afro-descendants in Latin America and the Caribbean through policy/press statements, dialogues, media work and other events.
Other Regional Work:
Destruction of the Black Garifuna Peoples—Declared By UNESCO A Cultural Heritage of Humanity
Briefing --The Implications of the Coup in Honduras on Afro-Descendants (July 2009)
Letter to President Barack Obama: A Just Message to the Summit of the Americas (April 2009)
Global Trade – Free for a Wealthy Few, Costly For Many (October 2008)
Discussion on Just Immigration Policies for Black Immigrants (October 2008)
