Announcing the launch of the
Host: TransAfrica Forum
Conference Call Details: Disseminated upon receipt of your RSVP
Over the past decade there has been a vibrant growth of networks, organizations, and coalitions focused on Africa. Thousands of U.S. citizens, of all ethnicities, are traveling to Africa, studying African history and are mobilizing support for a number of issues, from the HIV/AIDS pandemic to human rights in African countries. Yet, the ability to mobilize a critical mass of actors in order to mount pressure for successful policy change remains elusive.
The current economic recession (depression) means that the resources for national gatherings, strategy sessions, and mobilizing structures are hard to access or simply do not exist. As one way to foster national dialogue, TransAfrica Forum is launching a series of national conversations, first quarterly and then more frequently if appropriate and useful. Our objectives are:
Internationally, the political environment is ripe with opportunities for substantive structural change, but we all know that opportunities are just that: change comes as a result of organization and mobilization. The first step in that direction is to broaden and coordinate our conversations and to build upon our collective lessons. Please join us for this exciting inaugural conference call.
